“At one point there, I was struggling to keep everything moving,” said Ryan Stig, an NRL player who had a tick-borne disease. This resulted in Stig being unable to play for seven years. Ryan wasn’t diagnosed with this life-threatening Lyme Disease until 2 years after he had the illness.

According to Stig “I just started to get blurry vision in my right eye and started to get sicker and sicker… I was really crook at a point there – I was close to a wheelchair.” Stig had to go to multiple countries including Mexico, Switzerland, Germany, and Malaysia just to have his disease treated.

After almost seven years of being off the game due to this serious disease, he is now making his comeback and is looking forward to playing versus the North Sydney Bears on April 7.
